Military Wedding at The Riverview in Simsbury, CT

Imagine getting deployed to Poland five months before your wedding with no return date. That’s what this resilient couple went through, along with many obstacles that they always overcome. I’m so glad their wedding plans ended up being successful – thank you for your service, Matt! This couple is truly and inspiration and it was a joy to photograph their beautiful wedding day at The Riverview in Simsbury, CT.

Matt got into his uniform and Jen got ready with her ladies at the nearby Simsbury Inn. I’m obsessed with the blue vintage wallpaper in the bridal suite!

Matt’s reaction to Jen walking down the aisle was so raw and emotional! Not a dry eye in the room.

After sharing their first kiss, they were sent off with a traditional military saber arch.

There’s a reason they call it “The Riverview”… Can’t beat those river views!

Instead of a traditional card box, they used this cute little mailbox where guests could slip in their cards!

Their beloved dog Ellie couldn’t physically be at their wedding but they wanted to include her somehow, so they had fun little cameos of her on stir sticks and on their wedding cake!

Jen and Matt decided to end their night in three special ways. Instead of a traditional cake cutting, they cut the cake with a saber, followed by a celebratory saber champagne popping. As a send off, guests waved fiberoptic wands as they exited the venue, a safer alternative to a sparkler exit. So fun!
