Fall Proposal at Gapstow Bridge in Central Park

I got to do one of my favorite things this week – I got to conspire with Jamie to plan & photograph his surprise Central Park proposal to his girlfriend (now fiancée!) while they were on a weekend vacation in NYC!

This Toronto couple was in NYC for the weekend so Jamie thought it would be the perfect opportunity to propose to Lesley. His plan was to take Lesley for a walk through Central Park and pop the question in this private spot we chose, with the Gapstow Bridge & Plaza Hotel in the background.

After accidentally passing the spot and having to make a slight u-turn to walk back to the spot, Jamie pretended to take some selfies with Lesley while calming his nerves and getting up the courage to ask the big question.

Jamie got down on one knee and Lesley had the sweetest reaction, and eventually said something along the lines of “of course” and even “thank you”! 😂

Jamie put the ring on her finger & revealed to Lesley that I was there to photograph the moment, while on-lookers clapped and said congratulations.

We spent the rest of the hour walking around Central Park & taking their engagement photos while Lesley soaked it all in!

After Jamie asked if Lesley had any idea this was coming, she said she wasn’t sure but she did hope he would ask while they were in New York. Lesley noticed that Jamie had been acting strange lately, being very punctual about getting out the door that morning & making sure Lesley had her nails done for the trip (something he usually didn’t care about!).

Jamie & Lesley were so easy to photograph – total naturals when it comes to posing – it’s obvious they’re super in love & have great chemistry & I have no doubt they’ll make a great married couple!!

Thank you for letting me be a part of this special moment – it was such an honor!!

All the best & congratulations again on your engagement!
