I’m so excited to be on the She Creates Business podcast today to talk about a topic that’s close to my heart – how to scale your business without growing pains.
Here are the four main tips I recommend for scaling your business while still maintaining a healthy work-life balance:
Know Your Numbers
One of the most crucial tasks to do while scaling your wedding photography business is to collect data and stats about as many areas of your business as you can.
I store ALL the data related to every couple I’ve ever worked with in this LTD (life-to-date) Excel Spreadsheet so that I can crunch numbers to make educated business decisions.
You can download a free template of my Wedding Photography Client Spreadsheet here!
Log Your Time
Tracking your time will enlighten you about how many hours you work per day (so you don’t overwork yourself!) and how many hours you spend on each task so you can discover time-sucks. I love Timing 2 for Mac – it’s automated so I never have to worry about missing anything!
Define Your Own Version of Success
Don’t let the industry standard for success influence what you consider being successful. Set your own goals that align with your values.
Learn to Say No
Every “no” is another “yes”. You can’t say yes to everything – this Time Management Matrix makes it easier to determine what tasks should be a priority and what you should say “no” to.
DELEGATING & AUTOMATING
Once you determine what tasks could be completed faster, cheaper, or better by someone else, outsourcing these tasks is a great way to free up time for the tasks that you love and generate the most income.
If you find yourself in this place on your business – give yourself a pat on the back. I know that scaling a business can feel overwhelming but consider yourself lucky (and talented!) to have made it to this level of your business. Anyone can start a business, it takes determination and resilience to succeed in business.
